Queen Alexandra College Friends & Families Day 2016

It's great to see images I've taken for Queen Alexandra College used in their; prospectuses, PDF documents, website, printed banners, social media and the many different channels used for the marketing of the college.

My first job at Queen Alexandra College wasn't actually for QAC but was a portrait shoot for an education publication,  over 3 years ago. A lovely member of QACs marketing department was present at the shoot, she saw how I interacted with their students and asked me back to photograph their prospectus that year and since then I have been back to help with their photography requirements many times since.

When I go back, it's lovely to recognise faces I've seen before and meet new characters along the way. I've seen first hand what QAC has to offer people with disabilities and how much the students love being at QAC.

I have had the pleasure to photograph students as they engage in their studies. I've seen lots of different aspects of the college, they really do have superb facilities. Such as their supported living environments, sensory rooms, art and design studios, information technology suite, their lovely library, amazing sports facilities for sport courses and the students leisure time, cool creative media productions rooms, performing arts studios, on site merchandising printing and motor workshops, hospitality and catering facilities and the varied offsite social enterprises QAC also have, too.

I've also been invited to document the exhibitions they organise: Sight Village tours around the country to showcase the latest technology for people who are blind or partially-sighted. And Autism Central held at Aston Villa, an exhibition for products and services available to people on the Autistic Spectrum and their families.

One of the highlights of the students' year is their Friends and Family Day, they celebrate achievements from the academic year and say goodbye to any students who might be leaving to go on to new ventures. This year's Friends and Families Day was a super occasion, bigger than ever, with more awards and leavers than they have had for a longtime.

And after the speeches and awards there's a chance for everyone to have a catch up over the tasty buffet. It was great to be present again on their special day. I had a smile on my face the whole morning, photographing and listening to the successes and experiences the students accumulated throughout the year.
